Aleister Crowley
1875–1947 · Esotericism · Prominent
Crowley was an English occultist and ceremonial magician who founded the religion of Thelema on The Book of the Law, a text he said was dictated to him in Cairo in 1904. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law is its central rule: your task is to find your True Will, the one thing you exist to do, and follow that in place of convention. He defined Magick as the art of causing change in line with Will, and courted his billing as the wickedest man in the world.
