Portrait of G.K. Chesterton

G.K. Chesterton

1874-1936 · Christian Literature · Prominent

Chesterton was an English essayist and Catholic apologist who built his case out of paradox: the faith holds opposites at full strength, the fasting monk and the man at the feast, with neither one watered down. He invented Father Brown, a priest who solves murders by knowing sin from the inside, and championed distributism, private property spread wide, against capitalism and socialism alike.
