Zhuangzi
369-286 BC · Daoism · Renowned
Zhuangzi was a Taoist thinker who dreamed he was a butterfly and woke unsure which of the two was dreaming the other. His parables, dreams and paradoxes do the same work on right and wrong: every standard belongs to some point of view, and it shifts when the view shifts. The sage he admires drifts along with change, clings to no fixed standpoint, and moves as an extension of the Dao.
