Nature of Reality

Unity (0) — Multiplicity (100) · one of the 20 worldview axes

The six statements

Each axis is measured by six statements answered on a five-point scale. Statements 1, 2 and 5 pull toward Unity; 3, 4 and 6 toward Multiplicity.

  1. The many different things in the world are genuinely distinct all the way down.
  2. The differences between people, objects, and forces are real and irreducible; there is no deeper unity behind them.
  3. Beneath all diversity, reality is ultimately one unified thing or principle.
  4. The many separate things we see are appearances; at the deepest level, all is one.
  5. Physics, biology, ethics, and art cannot be collapsed into a single framework: each domain has its own irreducible logic.
  6. A river, a cloud, and steam from a kettle look like three things but are one substance in different forms; reality as a whole works the same way.
