Gilles Deleuze
1925-1995 · Postmodernism · Prominent
Deleuze was a French philosopher for whom what is real is difference and becoming, with no fixed forms standing behind the changes and no original that things copy. He set this against a long tradition of stable identities and a reality beyond the world. He wrote Anti-Oedipus and A Thousand Plateaus with Félix Guattari, whose picture of thought is the rhizome, a stem that spreads sideways underground with no trunk and no top.
