Frantz Fanon

Fanon was a psychiatrist from Martinique and a revolutionary who treated patients in colonial Algeria and traced their breakdowns to a lifetime spent under a gaze that told them they were less. Black Skin, White Masks and The Wretched of the Earth founded postcolonial thought. He defended armed revolt against the colonizer as something that heals the colonized, a therapy as much as a tactic.
