Portrait of Christopher Hitchens

Christopher Hitchens

1949-2011 · Secular Thought · Renowned

Hitchens was a British-American journalist who argued in God Is Not Great that religion is made by men and does harm. He called himself an antitheist, glad that the claim was false. A materialist, he held that the universe has no purpose built into it, that morality is innate and needs no God, and that death ends you. He defended free expression without exception and backed the Iraq War.
