Rosa Luxemburg (Róża Luksemburg)
1871-1919 · Marxism · Known
Luxemburg argued in The Accumulation of Capital (1913) that capitalism cannot keep growing without markets outside itself to sell into, which builds empire into the structure of the system. She held against Bernstein that reform and revolution aim at different things. She told the German party leaders in 1906 that a mass strike is thrown up by conditions and cannot be called by a committee. Freedom counted for her when it covered whoever disagrees.
