Evola was an Italian esotericist and radical traditionalist for whom history runs downhill: a fall through four ages, with power sliding from sacred kings to warriors to merchants to the masses. Hierarchy is written into nature. He attacked liberalism, democracy, capitalism and Marxism alike, all of them modern. He ranked a race of the spirit above a race of the body without dropping the biology, and Mussolini's regime took up his racial doctrine.
